New collaboration between SVAB and TERNA Systems enhances safety in excavators
SVAB and TERNA Systems are entering into a new partnership in which SVAB’s latest generation of joystick solutions will be integrated with TERNA’s advanced machine control system, TERNA3D™. The collaboration delivers simplified control, increased safety, and improved precision for machine operators.
Through this integration, operators can control TERNA’s machine control system directly from SVAB’s ergonomic joystick handles, without needing to shift their focus to external displays. This contributes to greater efficiency and a safer working environment. The partnership also introduces haptic feedback, where the joystick provides physical responses in the form of vibrations when the machine or bucket approaches predefined safety zones. This feature helps operators work with greater precision near utilities, sensitive infrastructure, or other areas requiring extra caution.
SVAB’s joystick platforms, such as the A9, are designed to combine high ergonomic standards with advanced functionality. Together with TERNA3D™, they create a more intuitive, safe, and user-friendly operating environment.
"Our collaboration with TERNA is a strong example of how our joystick solutions can be integrated with third-party systems to create a smarter and more user-centric in-cab experience. Haptic feedback opens up new possibilities for communicating critical information directly to the operator without disrupting workflow," says Fredrik Effestam, CEO of SVAB.
"Sweden is at the very forefront globally when it comes to technological innovation in our industry. It is both inspiring and exciting to see how two Swedish companies, both with development and manufacturing based domestically, can benefit from close collaboration to create new, innovative functionality that truly makes a difference for operators in their daily work. This partnership demonstrates the strength of the Swedish technology sector," says Dag Sjöqvist, CEO of TERNA Systems.
Key benefits of the joint solution:
- Increased safety through immediate physical feedback in risk areas
- Higher productivity by reducing the need for visual monitoring
- Improved precision when working near sensitive areas
- A more intuitive and ergonomic user experience
This partnership marks an important step toward more connected, intelligent, and operator-focused machine systems.
